How to use this tool

The Text-to-Speech Converter tool transforms written text into natural-sounding spoken audio:

  • Multiple Voices - Choose from various voices with different accents and gender options.
  • Adjustable Settings - Customize speech rate, pitch, and volume to suit your needs.
  • Play Controls - Start, pause, resume, and stop the speech playback as needed.
  • Text Highlighting - Option to highlight text as it's being spoken for better follow-along.
  • Auto-Scrolling - Automatically scroll to keep up with longer spoken content.
  • Quick Text Options - Pre-defined text samples to test different voices and settings.
How to use the Text-to-Speech Converter:
  1. Type or paste your text into the input field. For longer texts, consider using the "Split long text" option.
  2. Select your preferred voice from the dropdown menu (available voices depend on your browser and operating system).
  3. Adjust speech settings as desired:
    • Rate: Controls how fast or slow the text is spoken (0.5-2.0x normal speed)
    • Pitch: Adjusts how high or low the voice sounds (0.5-2.0)
    • Volume: Controls the loudness of the speech (0-1.0)
  4. Click the "Speak" button to start the speech playback.
  5. Use the playback controls (Pause, Resume, Stop) to control the speech as needed.
  6. For a better experience with longer texts, enable "Highlight spoken text" and "Auto-scroll" options.
Browser Compatibility:

This tool uses the Web Speech API which has different levels of support across browsers:

  • Best experience: Chrome, Edge, and Safari offer the most voices and best quality.
  • Limited support: Firefox has basic support with fewer voice options.
  • Not supported: Some older browsers may not support this feature at all.

Tip: For the best results when converting longer documents, break the text into paragraphs with proper punctuation to allow for natural pauses in speech.
